How to Fix a Frozen Home Screen on an iPod Touch

If you use an iPod Touch for more than just listening to music, say for business, keeping track of contacts, answering emails and storing important data -- nothing else is more frustrating than a frozen ipod touch screen.

Like any mobile device, an iPod Touch is prone to freezing from time to time so instead of calling Apple right away, try these steps to potentially fix the problem yourself:

1. Hold down the Power button until the red slider appears to turn off the iPod. Turn off the iPod and than hit the Power button again to turn the iPod back on.

2. Do a hard reset of your iPod by holding down the Power and home buttons for 10 seconds simultaneously. The Apple logo should appear within 10 seconds, if it doesn't you may need a new battery.

3. Connect your iPod Touch to it's charger and either charge on your computer or via a wall outlet. Wait for the iPod to charge and once it's at 50% or so, if it's not already connected to your computer, plug it into a computer.

4. Once plugged in, open up iTunes and wait until it recognizes your device. Click your iPod name on the left side of the screen and hit 'Check for Updates' button, than follow the steps on the screen and install any updates to your iPod.

5. If it is still unresponsive, you'll want to try restoring your iPod to factory settings by clicking "Restore" button on iTunes. Warning: All data will be lost at this point.

If you are still have a frozen home screen or a non-responsive home screen on your iPod Touch at this point, find the closest apple shop because you may potentially need an ipod repair to restore it back to normal.
