Accessories to Protect Smartphones from Damage, Part 2

Jul 14, 2020

In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the basic accessories to consider when looking to protect your smartphone from damage. There are several such items on the market, from phone cases utilized by many to other products that might not be used quite as consistently. At FixIT Mobile, we’re proud to not only provide phone repair for any smartphone model, but also several other tips and themes for maximizing phone lifespan – including using the right accessories to keep the item safe. In today’s part two of our series, we’ll go over a few additional such accessories to consider, both in terms of cleaning and avoidance of damage risks.

Compressed Air Product

We mentioned some of the risks dust buildups can pose to smartphones in part one, and one of the key areas to focus on here is the various ports and nooks on your phone. These areas are hard to get at using your bare hands, but can risk phone operation quality if too much is allowed to build up within them.

Luckily, there are several compressed air products meant for cleaning these areas. They come with small straws to move air toward your desired location. Simply be sure to follow all directions here so you do not put your phone at risk during use.

Car Mount

One common situation that can lead to phone damage (and other safety risks simultaneously): Driving. Those who place their cell phones on their dashboard, for instance, risk it falling off or jostling certain vehicle gadgets, risking not only the phone’s screen and quality but also your safety while you drive.

The solution here is a car mount, available in portable format. This item allows you to secure the phone in a location where it won’t be at risk of damage, plus won’t create as many safety hazards based on being in your line of sight.

Mini-Vacuum

If your phone has had issues with operation due to debris or dust in the past, you might consider a mini-vacuum device meant to spray debris away from them. There are a few such programs, common among those who work in construction and similar fields where dust and dirt are frequent occurrences.

Selfie Stick

Finally, while many think of the selfie stick as an item only for entertainment, it also plays a big role in phone protection for many. If you take lots of pictures, particularly in outdoor environments, keeping a selfie stick ensures the device is secure at all times and doesn’t risk being dropped, submerged in water or otherwise damaged.
