Choosing Between Computer Repair and Replacement, Part 2

Aug 5, 2020

In part one of this two-part blog series, we went over some of the variables to consider when choosing between computer repair and replacement. There are many cases where computer or laptop issues can be easily repaired using simple, low-cost techniques, but there also may be some others where repairs don’t make sense or aren’t possible given the extent of the damage. At FixIT Mobile, we’re here to help. Not only will we happily diagnose your computer issues, we’ll provide simple information on whether our computer repair services will be the right remedy – or whether your problems are so significant that you’d be better-served replacing the machine entirely. Today’s part two of our series will go into further detail on some of the variables involved in this decision.

Configuration Issues

Particularly in cases where issues are taking place in multiple computers, such as a business setting or a home with more than one machine for work purposes, malfunctions may be due to problems with system configuration. The most common occurrence here is when a small company or even an individual operating a home business attempts to incorporate new computer technology into existing “legacy” systems – this sort of thing is possible, to be sure, but it’s rife with risks if you don’t know what you’re doing.

If this is the case, repairs are easily possible for your machines. This comes down to simply understanding the configuration themes at play, which can be confusing to laypeople – but are simple for our pros.

Frequency of Issues

Another area we’ll inquire about when examining your machine to determine the best solution for damage or issues: How common are such concerns? Is this the first time such an issue has taken place, or are you dealing with the same thing over and over?

In the former case, many issues will be easily and permanently repaired by our team. If your computer requires the same repair over and over, however, this is a clear sign that repairs aren’t doing the job – either you’ve been working with a subpar computer repair specialist, or the damage is permanent enough that a replacement might be the best way to go.

Layout and Upgrades

Finally, as we briefly touched on in part one, there are a few rarer situations where damage or related concerns won’t preempt computer replacement at all. Rather, you might be looking for an improved layout or various upgrades to your system, the kind that are only possible by purchasing new equipment. In such cases, we’ll be happy to recommend the best resources, plus provide any repairs that will assist in your redesign.
