iPhone 7 Loop Disease Basics and Solutions, Part 3

In parts one and two of this multi-part blog series, we’ve gone over everything you need to know about loop disease in iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models. This condition, involving issues with the audio components of the phone and possibly some other symptoms, was common enough that it was the subject of a class action lawsuit against Apple last year. At FixIT Mobile, our phone repair solutions include a wide variety of potential issues, with potential diseases like loop disease among them. In today’s final entry into our series, we’ll go over some of the possible methods you might be able to take to deal with loop disease, either on your own or with the assistance of our iPhone repair staff, plus a couple other tangential concerns to be aware of.
Possible Solutions
Some of the first options you should be considering if you’ve identified loop disease as an issue in your iPhone and want to resolve the issue include:
Force restart: As we mentioned in part two of our series, minor software glitches or errors are sometimes the underlying cause of loop disease. In these cases, simply pressing and holding the power button and the Volume Down button at the same time for 20 seconds will force a restart, which often solves this issue.
Update iOS: Down similar lines, many software issues leading to loop disease are solved by updating your iOS to the latest version, which you can do easily in your settings or by plugging the phone into a computer and updating through iTunes.
Analytics data: Under the Privacy and Analytics settings of your phone, check for problematic apps that are listed repeatedly – if you find one, uninstall it and see if this fixes the issue.
Restoration methods: If none of the above works, you may use iTunes recovery mode or DFU mode for restoration, which our team will be happy to explain or perform for you.
Other Outlets
In some cases, the above methods will not solve loop disease issues. In such situations, other options may include hardware areas like removing and re-inserting the SIM card – there are cases where the connection to the wireless carrier causes the phone to get stuck in a restart loop, which a SIM removal will solve if this is the case.
Finally, there will be cases where physical repairs from our team, or your warranty coverage with Apple, will be necessary.
Screen Replacement and Boot Loop
We also wanted to touch on one related issue here that takes place with some less reputable phone repair companies. While you won’t run into these concerns with us, some screen repairs from other vendors may lead to boot loop, where the phone continuously restarts again and again. This is a hardware issue that can be easily repaired.
