Simple Tweaks Before Bringing Your iPhone in for Repair

Sep 3, 2021

In today's tech-savvy world where more and more consumers have at least some level of technical knowledge, the world of phone damage and related phone repairs is a tricky one. There are certain issues that will 100% require the assistance of trained professionals for repair -- but there are also other simple situations where in some cases, a quick tweak by the phone owner will solve the problem before any costly repairs are needed.

At FixIT Mobile, we're here to help in both these areas. Not only do we provide a wide range of phone repair services for both iPhone and Android models, we also offer expertise and over-the-phone assistance to many clients who are wondering whether they even need to bring their phone in -- or whether there's a quick fix they can perform on their own.

While this won't always be possible, here are some of the simplest iPhone problems you may notice, plus some simple tweaks to try before you bring the phone in to our team.

Black Screen

A black screen on an iPhone may show up due to a number of reasons. In many cases, this is just a result of the phone's display settings being turned off or going to sleep due to inactivity. If you press down on the home button and see your background wallpaper still showing up as normal, this could be an easy fix!

If this is not the issue, and if you're sure your phone hasn't simply run out of battery, reboot the phone and restore it to factory settings. If this doesn't work, it's time to call up our team for phone repair.

White Screen

The white iPhone screen, on the other hand, often takes place due to faulty hardware, a jailbreak or "snowy" software. In some cases, the screen simply won't turn on at all. The solution here? Make sure your device is plugged in to both an outlet and a computer -- if the phone charges but remains unresponsive, this may be due to faulty hardware or an issue with iOS itself, and you may have to bring the phone in.

Battery Not Charging (Or Draining Extremely Fast)

Battery issues will commonly occur right after an iOS upgrade, so if you've had one of these recently, try saving your data and performing a factory reset. If this doesn't do the trick, there may be too many high-battery-usage apps on your phone -- try deleting a few and see if performance improves. If not, you may have a battery replacement need.
